Learning Goals - Master of Mental Health Practice

Goal 1: Gain a greater understanding of the role mental health organisations play in preventing and promoting mental illness

  • Objective 1a: Improve understanding as to the health promotion and prevention initiatives mental health organisation engage in

  • Objective 1b: Interact with different health professionals within the organisation to gain various perspectives on health promotion initiatives

  • Objective 1c: Critically evaluate past and present initiatives to better understand the effectiveness of these in promoting good mental health

 

Goal 2: Apply my knowledge and skills in the professional setting, and contribute to improved evidence-based practice in health promotion

  • Objective 2a: Be confident in voicing my ideas and opinions when working and collaborating with other health professionals

  • Objective 2b: Be open to guidance from my supervisor, and ask questions to further increase my knowledge of public health and health promotion

 

Goal 3: Improve my competency in working with culturally diverse and socially disadvantaged population groups

  • Objective 3a: Gain a better understanding of the ethical considerations relevant to working with people experiencing a mental illness

  • Objective 3b: Gain a better understanding of the determinants of mental health within socially disadvantaged populations

  • Objective 3c: Observe interactions between health professionals and culturally diverse individuals and identify how, if at all, this differs from interactions with other individuals
